On the Radar: New Justin Timberlake LP, A Perfect Circle Reveal New Song, Festival Lineups + More

We’re finally back after the holiday break, so why not catch up on the latest music news with this week’s On the Radar.

Justin Timberlake announces new album ‘Man of the Woods’

Justin Timberlake is back and bringing us new music this year! Last week, the singer revealed his new album, Man of the Woods, out February 2. The record comes out just two days before his big performance during Superbowl LII in Minnesota. Timberlake gives us a taste of the new LP with a teaser trailer where he describes it as his most personal album yet. Shortly after the announcement, JT gave us the tracklist, album art, and the lead single “Filthy,” which you can listen to above.

Following that, he revealed dates for his upcoming Man of the Woods tour, which you can check out here. Many have already noted a musical departure with his latest work. It doesn’t seem to have the same upbeat, bouncy nature we’re used to from JT. Instead, many have compared the snippets to Bon Ivor. Oddly enough, the singer impersonated Bon Iver during a 2012 episode of Saturday Night Live. Still, we’re excited to hear what JT has in store for us this year.

A Perfect Circle reveal new song “Disillusioned”

While we’re still waiting to hear about the new Tool album, it seems we will get a new A Perfect Circle album this year. The band recently released a new song from their currently untitled LP dubbed “Disillusioned.” The slow, atmospheric track shows the band hasn’t skipped a beat during their 14-year absence. Previously, the band released the lead single “The Doomed” along with a bleak music video.

Hopefully, this will keep you satiated while we wait to hear more about the new album. A Perfect Circle will most of this year touring overseas, with their European tour dates kicking off June 1 in Nurburgring, DE. Before that, they’ll play various festival dates including, Los Rageous Music Festival, Northern Invasion, and Rock on the Range.

Chicago Artist Spotlight: Breakfast Beer

Chicago folk outfit Breakfast Beer is still in their infancy, only forming in 2016, but they’re planning the new year to be a big one. Formed by Jack Shales, Jackson Hill, Tyler Sone, and Collin Boltz, the band started off with unplanned living room jams that led to getting serious about making music together.

After spending a year working hard on music, the band dropped their debut Breakup EP last week. Drawing inspiration from acts like Fleetwood Mac, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, and Phish the five track release shows a promising new band cutting their teeth. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s a step in the right direction for Breakfast Beer. If you want to check out their music, visit their Bandcamp page.
