Korn’s Jonathan Davis flies solo

Last week, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis announced not only his first solo album but a new tour to go along with it. All we know about the album so far is it’s coming sometime this year. He also shared the lead single from the upcoming release dubbed “What It Is.” In support of the record, he’ll hit the road for a world tour.

North American dates kick off April 6 in Portland, OR and wrap up May 19 in Camden, NJ. He’ll play the House of Blues in Chicago May 6. Tickets are on sale now. Check out all the dates here.

Kendrick Lamar reveals details for Black Panther soundtrack

Black Panther is on the first track to be one of the hottest movies of the year. And thanks to Kendrick Lamar, it may have one of the best soundtracks too. Lamar gave us the details for the upcoming soundtrack, which he curated alongside Top Dawg Entertainment label head Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith.

Lamar appears on five tracks including the previously released “All the Stars” with SZA. Also appearing on the album is Vince Staples, Schoolboy Q, James Blake, 2 Chainz, Ab-Soul and Anderson. Paak, The Weeknd, Raw Sremmurd, and Khalid. Make sure you pick up the soundtrack when it drops February 9, a week before the movie opens in theaters.

Beck adds more shows to his 2018 tour

With the success of his latest album Colors, it’s no surprise Beck is hitting the road this year. Though dates were previously announced, the singer recently expanded his roster. New shows include cities like Charlotte, Washington, DC, Atlanta, and Nashville. So far, there are no dates booked for Chicago. Perhaps we’ll see him at a festival this summer?

Shows kick off March 23 in Houston, TX and wrap up May 6 in Nashville, TN. From there, he’ll tour overseas to play various festivals including All Points East, BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend, and Summer Sonic in Japan. Check out all the dates here.

Chicago Artist Spotlight: Andrew Salgado

The country music scene is steadily on the rise in Chicago as this new artist shows. Though devoted to baseball while in school, he decided to turn to his love of music when things didn’t work out. Salgado earned his big break when he won the Pepsi Southern Original competition in 2013.

In 2015, he released his debut album Absolutely Everything, which spawned the successful single “Dance On.” After this, he picked up more fans and attention. Throughout his career, he’s had the honor of working with big name country acts like Toby Keith, Clint Black, Carrie Underwood, and Kacey Musgraves.

Now, Salgado is ready to unleash his next album, 86 – VOL 1 on February 8.
