30 Seconds to Mars guitarist quits the band

Tomo Miličević, guitarist for 30 Seconds to Mars, has quit the band. He revealed the news last week with a tweet saying “I am no longer in 30 Seconds to Mars. I don’t really know how to explain in a note how I could have come to a decision like this, but please believe me when I say that this is the best thing for me in my life and also for the band.”

He continued by saying: “The years that I have been privileged enough to spend with all of you live inside of my heart and mind as some of the most amazing memories I’ll ever have. Even though this is incredibly painful because of my attachment to, and love for everyone involved, I know that this pain will be fleeting for myself, and anyone who’s feeling the same because I know that it is the right thing.” Read his statement here.

So far, the band hasn’t released a statement regarding Miličević’s departure. They did release their new music video, “Rescue Me,” which you can check out above.

Chicago Artist Spotlight: Ganser

Ganser’s makes music that harkens to the days of Kim Gordon and Sonic Youth, but still sounds fresh and exhilarating. This post-punk band mixes poppy hooks with dark brooding soundscapes. It’s a match that works better than you think. The band, featuring Alice Gaines (vocals/bass), Nadia Garofalo (vocals/keyboard), Brian Cundiff (drums), and Charlie Landsman (guitar) formed in 2014 when Nadia and were attending school at the Art Institute. It started as a project and eventually blossomed into a full-length band.

Though they’ve been kicking around the city’s DIY scene for years, they only released their debut LP, Odd Talk, in April. Singles like “Satsuma,” “PSY OPS,” and “Avoidance” show off the band’s lush sound, vibrant music, and their haunting vibe. If you’re into band’s like Joy Division and The Jesus and Mary Chain then check out Ganser. You can catch them live at their upcoming show at The Empty Bottle June 26. Make sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates and grab a copy of Odd Talk here.
