Incubus 8 Tour rolls through Tinley Park with an inspiring night of solid acts.

The Incubus 8 tour descended on Tinley Park with a powerful and entertaining trio of bands.

Judah and the Lion kicked off the night with a really entertaining set. Being that they are a newer band on the scene, they had the most to prove to fans who arrived early. This quintet had so much fun while being themselves the entire time. They made it abundantly clear that they thrive on being weird and even if the audience wasn’t into it, it sure as hell wasn’t going to stop them. Hell they even busted out “Booty Wurk” by T-Pain and the crowd ate it up. Even their cover of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers showed the talent of these guys.

They closed out the set with the song that put them on the map, “Take It All Back”. Judah Akers and Co. have a band that transcends multiple genres. You get a bluegrass feel with an alternative foundation. Their sound is all their own in a time when bluegrass has become quite abundant. They have a lot of room to grow and a headlining tour is a must real soon.

Jimmy Eat World arrived on stage next and brought fans to their feet during their set. It was an explosive show with hit after hit being pumped out. “Bleed American” quickly set the tone and put fans in a frenzy. Jim Adkins displayed his vocal range right from the get go. He and the band showed that they are still as relevant after all of these years.

The songs that really stood out during the set were “Pain”, “Sweetness”, and of course “The Middle”. It’s hard to see Jimmy Eat World not as a headliner, but with how this night was shaping up, you knew what is still yet to come would blow your mind.

Incubus closed out the night with a packed full set of hits. You could not go a song without the urge to sing along with Brandon Boyd. The flood of memories that would rush back from years past brought fans to a happy place. I kept thinking the highlight of the night had come and they just kept outdoing themselves. “Nimble Bastard” started the long run of hits and it just kept building the energy. With how amazing their set was, I still took issue with the fact that there was no love from their early albums. The ones that made me fall in love with this band. I think that it may be hard to hear songs from Fungus Amongus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., and their EP Enjoy Incubus. I hope that is not the case and they haven’t shelved that part of their career.

That being said, witnessing the elation of fans as they churned out songs like “Anna Molly”, “Megalomaniac”, “Wish You Were Here”, “Pardon Me”, and “Dig” you ended up witnessing something special. The next time these guys come back, I feel that a show at the United Center would be a perfect fit. Do not miss them.
