Poliça Hypnotizes Thalia Hall in support of United Crushers album. The lyrics of this album are heavy yet the uplifting synth-pop sound counteracts it for a perfect balance.
The balance Poliça creates was enhanced on stage by the opening band, Mothxr, whose sound is laidback yet energetic. Mothxr set the stage perfectly for Poliça, by being a wonderful contradiction.
Poliça took the stage shortly after Mothxr, and brought a whole new atmosphere to the room. The fans swayed to the electronic music while mesmerized by Channy Leaneagh’s voice. The band put the audience into a trance that was further induced by the amazing light show that Poliça put on.
With lights shining from all angles and changing color schemes like never before, the crowd was hypnotized. The band played fifteen songs, but the time seemed to fly by. The crowd didn’t want to leave Thalia Hall or break from their bliss. It was apparent that the fans weren’t ready for the show to be over.
Luckily, Poliça came back for an even more exciting encore. “Baby Sucks” and “Amongster” were preformed, while the crowd soaked in every last note the band played.
Poliça is a beautiful escape. Their music will distract you in the best way possible. They are complex and their music is deep, but they still have a fun edge. Listen to Poliça’s new album, United Crushers, here.
