What initially started as a home recording project has turned into a successful rock band. Australian’s Tame Impala have been keeping their infectious and fun brand of psychedelic rock going since 2007. They began receiving critical acclaim with their 2010 debut album Innerspeaker, which was named one of the best albums of the decade by Pitchfork Media. Their 2012 follow up, Lonersim, did even better with it being certified platinum in their homeland and selling over 210,000 copies in the United States alone. The record also got the band their first Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. As they continue moving forward in their career, they keep pushing themselves to get better, go harder, and go beyond their musical expectations. They proved this with their most recent album, Currents, which is on its way to being another success. Tame Impala plays UIC Pavilion on June 9th.
