Chicago’s Riot Fest, to be held in Douglas Park on September 16-18, announced its first wave of acts today. Along with the previously announced Misfits reunion (billed as “The Original Misfits”), the lineup includes Morrissey, Ween, Death Cab for Cutie, Rob Zombie, Social Distortion, Nas, Fitz and the Tantrums, Death Grips, Jimmy Eat World, and The Hold Steady.
Also reuniting at the Chicago iteration of the festival are Thursday, Set Your Goals, The Anniversary, and Girls Against Boys.
Some bands at the festival will be performing classic albums in their entirety, including Social Distortion (White Light, White Heat, White Trash), Rob Zombie (White Zombie’s Astro-Creep: 2000), and The Hold Steady (Boys and Girls in America). Popular emo band Motion City Soundtrack will play one of their final shows at the fest.
The festival will also include numerous carnival rides and attractions. Previous festivals have included Lucha Libre, Freak Shows, a Butter Sculpturist, and a snowball fight.
The second wave of artists is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
