R. Kelly 12 Nights of Christmas proves why he’s still the King of R&B

R. Kelly 12 Nights of Christmas

Christmas wasn’t the only thing on R. Kelly’s mind when he played the Chicago Theater as part of his 12 Nights of Christmas tour. Though he did play some holiday tunes, like “My Wish for Christmas” and “Home for Christmas,” to promote his latest album, 12 Nights of Christmas.

Aside from a Christmas tree in the corner, there was very little holiday cheer to this show. Kelly’s set focused on love, lust and desire. It should be no surprise since one of his biggest song is named “Bump N’ Grind.” Kelly soon made it clear this was not a holiday event to enjoy with the family. Kelly teased the crowd with bits and pieces from hits, like “Half On A Baby,” and “Feelin’ On Yo Booty.” The singer gave it his all during full renditions of “12 Play” and “Your Body’s Callin,” reminding you why he is the King of R&B.

Between crooning “The Zoo” and “Down Low” Kelly got sensual with a few ladies from the crowd. Some lucky ones sat on a couch set up on stage to get a full view of Kelly. Other times, he asked one lady in the crowd to wipe his head off with a towel. The selected ladies seemed to enjoy Kelly’s teasing.

The venue lit up the most when Kelly pulled put hits like, “Ignition (Remix)” and “Step in the Name of Love.” A mass dance party broke off as he crooned through these songs, pleasing everyone in the venue.

If you’re looking for a holiday-themed show, R. Kelly is not going to give it to you. But if you don’t mind songs about getting down, being sexy, and just enjoying yourself, then Kelly’s show is not one to miss.
