Lotus packs the Vic and warms fans with solid set on frigid night

For a day that saw the city get a ton of snow, fans were not deterred to make it out to see Lotus perform at their sold out show. Their winter tour began a few days before and by the time they made it to Chicago they were on fire.

They brought Marvel Years along for the ride and he really set the tempo for the night with his guitar infused DJ set.  Full of energy and extremely talented, he got the crowd grooving. Be sure to keep an eye out for him when he makes it back to Chicago.

When Lotus arrived on stage they dove right in with an intense first set.  Kicking off the night with “Grayrigg”, the crowd was given a visual and audio journey that is bar none a non stop party. They moved seamlessly from song to song and it never felt like any of the songs were out of place.

These guys are wildly underrated and not given nearly enough recognition for what they have created over the years. Being able to hear “Jump Off” live is an absolute treat.

If you are a fan of bands like Disco Biscuits, STS9, or Umphrey’s McGee and you are looking to expand your music library, you seriously need to put Lotus in your rotation.

All I can say is that these guys deserve a 2 night run in Chicago and it will most definitely sell out.  Do not miss them the next time they make it back to the WIndy City.
