The saying goes things happen for a reason. This seems to be the case with Julien Baker. Baker started out playing with close friends under the name Forrister, formerly known as The Star Killers. Unfortunately, Baker was taken away from the band from college, which was four hours away. Rather than quitting music completely, she needed to continue creating music and found an outlet through solo work. She never intended to do much with the material until her friend convinced her to travel to Richmond, VA to record the new songs at Spacebomb Studios. Baker spread the songs among her friends before releasing them on her full length debut titled Sprained Ankle via 6131 Records. The album was met with critical acclaim and even charted on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums at No. 25. Baker is playing at Lincoln Hall on April 14th with Phoebe Bridgers.
