Jane’s Addiction is one of the most influential bands to get its start in the 90’s. Right from the start, they never played it safe and were unlike anything else around. Their sound is a unique blend of rock, heavy metal, glam, and funk. Albums like Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual de lo habitual pushed boundaries, something for which Jane’s Addiction was famous. Frontman Perry Farrell and the band really did change rock music. But Jane’s Addiction isn’t Farrell’s only major contribution to the American music scene. Farrell also worked to create of one of the world’s biggest music festivals: Lollapalooza.
This summer, Jane’s Addiction will be celebrating the 25th anniversaries of both the founding of the Lollapalooza festival and the release of their second album. To commemorate these milestones, the band will be hitting the road for the Sterling Spoon Anniversary tour.
The tour will begin in Brooklyn, New York with a concert to inaugurate the new Coney Island Amphitheater. Several other ’90s legends will also be going on the upcoming tour; Dave Navarro, Dinosaur Jr. and Living Color will all be playing some of the tour’s shows. The Sterling Spoon Anniversary tour will span both the East Coast and the Midwest, so be sure to grab tickets. The tour is also leading up to the band’s upcoming massive performance at Lollapalooza. In addition to this, the band will also be playing two shows at Chicago’s Metro as part of the Lollapalooza after party concert series. You can catch the band at Metro on July 27th and 28th, where you can hear hits like “Been Caught Stealing,” “Mountain Song,” and “Stop!” and celebrate 25 years of Jane’s Addiction and Lollapalooza all at once.
