Halsey at Aragon Ballroom

July 30, 2016
Ashley Nicolette Frangipane

Halsey (real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane) has a successful career and and she only has one album under her belt. She’s an accomplished musician who learned to play the violin, viola, cello, and focused on acoustic guitar when she was 14. By 17, she began writing her own songs and played various shows under different stage names. Like many young musicians, she started posting cover songs on Youtube and even did a parody of Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Her original debut single, “Ghost,” was posted on SoundCloud in 2014. This helped her get the attention of Astralwerks record label, who later gave her a deal. Her debut EP, Room 93, was released later that year. The EP was a smash reaching no. 3 on Billboard’s Heatseeker’s chart. Her full length album, Badlands, came out the following year and proved even more successful. It not only received critical praise, but also peaked at no. 2 and 1 on Billboard’s 200 and Top Alternative Albums chart respectively.
