Rapper Gucci Mane came to UIC Pavilion with “friends” on September 23rd to celebrate “Chicago’s Powerfest.” The event featured local artists and other members of the 1017 Brick Squad. Gucci has brought out guests like Future and Drake before, so concert-goers are sure to be in for some surprises.
After bursting onto the Southern Rap scene with his debut album, Trap House, he achieved commercial success with Hard to Kill, featuring the single, “Freaky Gurl,” which was his first entry into the Billboard Hot 100. His biggest commercial success before this year came with the release of 2010’s The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted, which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 album charts.
