Dawes at Vic Theatre

Apr 27, 2016
Dawes band, folk band

Dawes may not be a household name yet, but with their rising success over the years that’s set to change. This folk rock band from Los Angeles got their start back in 2009 and features brothers Taylor (guitars and vocals) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums), Wylie Gelber (bass), and Duane Betts (guitar). Dawes’ debut, North Hills, came out in 2009 and peaked at no. 23 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. This album was followed by 2011’s Nothing is Wrong and 2013’s Stories Don’t End, which landed the no. 36 spot on the Billboard 200. Their latest release, 2015’s All Your Favorite Bands, is proving to be another strong contender in their catalog. If their acclaimed albums don’t show the mark of success maybe their various sold out tour dates will. One of these includes a sold out performance at Chicago’s Vic Theatre on April 27th. Fellow folk rock band Hiss Golden Messenger will join Dawes as the opening act.
